During this weekend you will learn that NLP is not a set of techniques; it is a methodology. (For example, Change Personal History is not NLP, it is a technique that was developed from behavioral modeling people who could create new perspectives on limiting decisions they made about themselves while growing up.) As you move through this weekend, you will learn how to create the future you want by identifying your unconscious patterns of behavior, as well as your own patterns of excellence. As the book An Insiderâs Guide to Submodalities, by Richard Bandler and Will McDonald states, It takes a very small incremental shift in the structure of subjectivity to be able to make a significant change. (back to top) Mapping across submodalities The Swish Pattern The Fast Phobia/Trauma Process Recoding for Motivation Learning how to run your own brain Mediation and Negotiation Beyond "Visualization" techniques to "programming the software of your mind." WEEKEND SIX: Understanding Yourself and Others—Meta Programs A major NLP Presupposition is that we are consistently creating our own reality through our beliefs, perceptions and filters. Another is that we are constantly communicating these beliefs and filters through our language patterns and nonverbal behavior. Carl Jung identified personality types by sorting thinking styles into several categories: introvert vs extrovert, thinking vs feeling, perceiving vs judging, and intuiting vs sensing. From these basic four 'type' distinctions, he was able to make a number of important predictions about how a person might behave or be motivated in various environments. In the field of NLP, there are similar linguistic distinctions that are much more precise in every context. These distinctions are called sorting styles or more commonly, meta-programs. In this module you will learn how to reliably predict someone else's (or your own) success in any given situation by linguistically identifying their meta programs in a brief conversational process. Meta programs are linguistic distinctions and are a very precise way of identifying personality type preferences. You will also learn the significance of each Meta Program as they relate to problem states and Contexts vs Successful ones. (back to top)
